Time Running Out to Enter Scarecrow Business & Residential Competition

The annual Scarecrow Invasion & Family Festival will soon be here, and those wanting to enter their own displays in the business or residential scarecrow display competition must do so by September 28. Judging will take place from September 30 to October 2.

The theme for this year’s Invasion is ‘Scarecrows Celebrate Meaford’s 150th Anniversary’ in honour of the former Town of Meaford’s sesquicentennial.

The Business Display Competition includes four categories: best indoor display, best window display, best outdoor display, and best overall display.

Each winning category will receive a large plaque to display for a year along with a small plaque to keep. The Best Overall winner receives the wooden statue ‘Patches’ to display at their business for a year.

Information about the business competition, including how to enter, can be found at https://www.scarecrowinvasion.ca/business-display.

The winner of the Residential Display Competition will receive a family night out which includes dinner and a movie, including a limo ride, for up to six people courtesy of Graham Driving Service, a $100 Cineplex gift certificate, and a $100 gift certificate for Steven’s Restaurant in Markdale.

The runner-up in the Residential Display Competition will receive a gift basket of items donated by local businesses.

Information about the residential competition, including how to enter, can be found at https://www.scarecrowinvasion.ca/residential-display.

An awards and volunteer appreciation night is planned for October 24, at the Meaford United Church, 7-9 p.m.
