Hugh (Hubert) Timmerman died as he would have wanted, on his feet while with family. He left us on March 25, four years to the day of his much loved wife of 60 years, Helen Timmerman. Born May 27, 1931, Hugh lived a life of hard work, fidelity, and dedication. He was a first rate mechanic, farmer, and author who published books and articles about WWII and other subjects.
Hugh is survived by his children John, Case, Petra, and Marlene/Khrys (James), as well as his grandchildren Christina, Owen, Renee, and Jill, and their children. He was sadly predeceased by his grandson Bradley, who tragically died March 9, 2024.
Hugh will be remembered by the people of Meaford and Strathroy for his near daily rides around town on his feather-adorned bicycle.
He was a big supporter of Terry Fox and raised over $20,000 through his efforts. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Terry Fox Foundation in his name would be greatly appreciated.
Services will be held starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024, in Guelph at the Gilbert Macintyre & Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, ON.
