John Herrmann, 91, of Meaford, passed away peacefully at the Meaford Long-Term Care on August 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on January 13, 1934, in Germany to Louisa and Karl Herrmann, John dedicated his life to growing and planting trees. A horticulturalist by trade, he brought his education and skills to Canada at the age of 20. Shortly after arriving, he met and fell in love with Clare Post, whom he married. Together, they built a life filled with hard work, laughter, and love, raising four children.
John was widely known for his deep knowledge of plants, his unwavering work ethic, and his generosity and his wisdom. His legacy lives on in the many trees he nurtured, the landscapes he helped shape, and the values he instilled in his family.
Survived by his wife of 69 years, Clare, and his four loving daughters: Vicky(Ralph) Landsborough, Rosie(Ted) Mallet, Karen(Jeff) Smith, and Lynn Nixon. John also has eight beloved grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
