Doug Burnside of Wasaga Beach passed away peacefully with his mother by his side at Campbell House Hospice in Collingwood on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at the age of 71.
Born on December 26, 1951, he was a son of Betty Burnside of Meaford and the late Walter Burnside.
Doug was the much-loved father of Robin Burnside (Jarrid Teabo) and Tina Burnside (Cory Fruck).
He was the proud Grandpa of Blake, Raven, Elizabeth, Beau, and Samantha, and Great-Grandpa of Claire, Lucas, and Xena.
Doug will be missed by his brothers Ken Burnside and Brian Burnside (Claudia).
Family and friends meant the world to Doug. He loved spending as much time with them as he could. He enjoyed classic cars and trucks and loved to get out in the bush four wheeling. The past few years it has been difficult for Doug to get out and about and he has found great comfort in listening to music, and watching movies and sports. During the challenging times Doug has really appreciated all of the phone calls and visits from his friends. He is at peace now and is no longer struggling.
A service will be conducted at Meaford United Church on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 1 o’clock with a reception following. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
