The Meaford Public Library, in partnership with the Municipality of Meaford, has announced the launch of the GrandPals at the Library program, and is actively seeking older adult (55+) volunteers to join this initiative. Community members are invited to become GrandPals and make a difference in the lives of local youth.
The GrandPals at the Library program is a unique initiative that bridges generations by connecting older adults in our community with our youth (ages 9-11) through storytelling. Through eight engaging sessions, GrandPals and youth will explore various aspects of life, learning, and shared experiences, fostering meaningful intergenerational relationships. Volunteering as a GrandPal provides an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the younger generation. GrandPals bring invaluable wisdom, experiences, and stories that can inspire and enrich the lives of students. Beyond that, participants will experience the joy of forming genuine connections and the sense of purpose that comes from being a positive influence in the community.
Applications and information packages can be found at Meaford.ca/GrandPals, at the Meaford Public Library, or at the Municipal office. The deadline for applications is August 30.
