Born April 5, 1931, in Hamilton, Ontario, Robin had a long and distinguished career with Canada Cartage and was one of the last members of the ‘Original 25 Year Club’. Robin spoke fondly and often of his many years on the road and later of his time managing the paint and body shop departments and of the many friendships he forged over his decades with Canada Cartage.

Robin was an avid outdoors man, accomplished golfer, gardener and birder, and will be missed by his neighbours and many friends in his beloved community of Meaford where he and wife Joan lived for over 25 years.

Robin’s final year was supported by caring teams at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Chartwell Whispering Pines, Bayshore Healthcare, and Dr. Fejes. The family is eternally grateful for the many physicians, nurses, PSWs and support staff who supported and brought comfort to Robin, and a special thanks to Hospice Simcoe for the exceptional care they provided in Robin’s last days. Their expertise and kindness will always be remembered.

A Celebration of Robbie’s Life will be held on April 29, 2023, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Chartwell Whispering Pines Retirement Residence, 140 Letitia St, Barrie, ON, L4N 1P5.

As expressions of sympathy, Memorial Donations to Hospice Simcoe or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family and can be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E, Meaford, ON, N4L 1B9, to whom arrangements have been entrusted.
