Driver Arrested For Impaired

Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a Mariposa resident following an impaired driving investigation in the Municipality of Meaford.

On February 10, 2026, at approximately 1:31 p.m., Grey Bruce OPP were dispatched to a vehicle parked on the shoulder of Highway 26 at the intersection of 6th Concession in the Municipality of Meaford.

Officers were dispatched to the call for a person who was believed to possibly need medical attention but was refusing assistance. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the driver and subsequently entered into an impaired driving investigation.

A 73-year-old, from Mariposa, has been charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

  • Impaired Operation – Alcohol
  • Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 19.
