Call for Houses to Participate in the Meaford Haunted Candy Route

The Meaford Haunted Candy Route returns for its 6th edition, and organizers Anna and Rick den Hengst are calling for residents to submit their addresses to be included on this year’s map.

The Route started in 2020 as an effort to save Halloween for kids, when so many of their normal activities were no longer an option. Originally the Meaford Contactless Candy Route, it brought together those who wanted to offer candy safely and trick-or-treaters for a memorable night.

When the need for contact-less candy distribution was no more, there was still a demand on social media for the map, so we decided to adapt and focus on houses that put up special decorations, are wheelchair accessible, or simply want to attract more trick-or-treaters,” said Rick den Hengst.

Meaford has many houses that are unoccupied year round, so there is a lot of walking for little legs; some even do car trick-or-treating. We hope to make Meaford one big Halloween Town,” added Anna den Hengst.

To be included on the map, submit your address to: halloweenhauntedcandyroute@gmail.com by Friday, October 24. You can also request a finished copy of the map at that address, or keep an eye on the various Meaford Facebook community pages.
