Join the cooking class crew, including guest chefs from our community, in the newly renovated Meaford & St. Vincent Community Centre Kitchen, once a month through the fall and winter from 5 to 7pm.
Classes include: instruction, demonstration, participation, and celebration, and conclude with enjoying the prepared meal together! Learn about:
• preparing multiple meals quickly, efficiently and on a budget
• preparing the contents of your Good Food Box/CSA box
• making use of everything your garden produces
• preserving produce in season
• enjoying the diverse locally-grown bounty of the Georgian Triangle
At the first class, chef Diana guided the team to prepare ‘Back to School Meals’, which included: the most delicious vegetarian tomato sauce, black bean and corn soup, coconut curry soup and cornbread waffles to die for!
“Being able to prepare foods into a delicious meal is an invaluable skill. The first cooking class was a huge success – it was fun, educational, friendships were developed and the meal was enjoyed by all. Looking forward to the next class with Laura who is going to show us how to preserve foods from our garden!”, says Jaden Calvert, co-chair of the Golden Town Outreach. Laura Buckler is the owner of Cottage Country North Preserves and has been bringing her preserves to the Meaford Farmers’ Market.
