On Thursday, July 10, Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver, driving erratically northbound on Hwy. 6 & 10 through Chatsworth.

The witness, an off-duty police officer, followed the vehicle until an on-duty officer operating an OPP cruiser stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Concession 10 and Hwy. 26 in the Municipality of Meaford.

The lone driver, who appeared to be confused, was arrested for impaired driving after failing a standard field sobriety test at the roadside. The driver was transported to the Meaford detachment where he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert Officer who determined that the driver was impaired by drug.

The 53 year-old Meaford man was charged with Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Drug.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, August 14, 2014.
