On July 21, at approximately 11 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were alerted to a suspicious male by a concerned motorist on Sykes Street North in the Municipality of Meaford.
Police located and spoke with the male. During the interaction, officers formed grounds for criminal charges, and the male was placed under arrest.
As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Joel Chaput, 33, from Toronto with the following offences:
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Failure to comply with release order
- Fail to comply with probation order
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on August 26.
