Grey Bruce OPP Launches Comfort Companions Program To Support Children In Crisis

The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has introduced Comfort Companions, a community partnership dedicated to bringing comfort and support to children during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Through this program, local crafters and volunteers are invited to create handmade crochet plushies and blankets that can be provided to children experiencing trauma or crisis. These thoughtfully crafted items offer more than warmth and comfort. They provide reassurance, a sense of security, and a reminder that their community cares.

Donation Guidelines

To ensure all donated items are safe and suitable for children, please follow these guidelines:

  • Items must be new and handmade
  • Items must not contain small parts that could pose a choking hazard
  • Used or gently used items cannot be accepted
  • Donated items should have no monetary value attached

In addition to completed plushies and blankets, donations of new fabric and yarn are also welcome. Community volunteers will use these materials to create comfort items for children in need.

Donations can be dropped off at any Grey Bruce OPP detachment.

The Grey Bruce OPP extends its appreciation to the many community members whose compassion, creativity, and generosity make this initiative possible. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, one stitch at a time,” said the OPP.
