Two individuals were charged following an investigation into drug trafficking and the execution of a search warrant at a residence by the Grey Bruce Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU).
On March 27, 2024, at 5:00 am, members of Grey Bruce CSCU with assistance of the Huron-Perth CSCU, Wellington CSCU as well as members of the Tactics & Rescue Unit (TRU), West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and members of the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant at a property on Concession Road 2 North in the Municipality of Meaford.
During the search officers discovered and seized a quantity of cocaine, ketamine, crack cocaine, along with Canadian currency, firearms, and drug paraphernalia. The value of the seized controlled substance is estimated to be $300,000.
Charged with the following alleged offences is 59-year-old Ian Harker of the Municipality of Meaford with:
- Possession Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Meth
- Possession Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Ketamine
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm (four counts)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm (three counts)
- Breach of Firearms Regulation – Store Firearm or Ammunition (three counts)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered with
Charged with the following alleged offences is 45-year-old Amanda Armitage of the Municipality of Meaford with:
- Possession Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Meth
- Possession Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Ketamine
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm (four counts)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm (three counts)
- Breach of Firearms Regulation – Store Firearm or Ammunition (three counts)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered with
The accused parties were held pending a bail hearing.
