Editor,
The property on SE corner of Aiken and St. Vincent Streets is now a track and field, which the Coyote team uses to practise and have interactions with their friends.
These kids are Meaford’s, Ontario’s future. They all put their heart and soul into the efforts to become better physically and mentally.
The Meaford government and the people it seems, want to take this away from them.
I suggest to suck it up and simply give this property to them so they can grow happy with bruises and the like. Intelligence? No, more like the Grinch.
Can you imagine trying to plunk a second brick and cement school on this small property, making room for cars and some place to give recesses to the kids and then saying, Oh shoot we should have made it bigger. Gee whiz, sorry kids you could have had a track and field there. Hindsight sometimes isn’t a good thing.
How about this: leave the track for fun, tear down the old school (gee, buy it back from those who are not quite sure what they can do with it). Having been built with asbestos in it by the way. Without much thought, it should have been torn down in the first place.
Build a senior residence on that property so they can walk, crawl, wheel themselves down to the track and enjoy watching the entertainment by the sports minded children.
I read where council is either looking or have purchased 25 acres along Hwy 26 for infrastructure for the pumped storage thingy. Probably next to the new school. Oh look kiddies, that’s progress.
Would love to ramble on. I live nearby and enjoy driving by seeing their smiles. It is a beautiful track. If we won a few million we dream purchasing that property for the Coyotes. Dreams! Maybe a collection!
