The Meaford Curling Club is hiring two ambassadors, thanks to funding from the province to assist with COVID-related expenses when it reopens next month.
A total of $30,700 was awarded through the Ontario Trillium Foundation to the Meaford Curling Club. This money will be used to hire two ambassadors to assist with COVID protocols as well as Plexiglas shields, cleaning supplies, and other expenses for the season.
A media release from Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker’s office said that 21 local organizations are receiving funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Community Building Fund, which is distributing more than $46 million province-wide to support 648 non-profit tourism, culture, sport and recreation organizations.
Walker said in a statement, “These organizations are the bedrock of our communities. By helping them weather the storm, we are ensuring that residents across Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound and Ontario will have the opportunity to reconnect with the many things that make this community special.”
The Community Building Fund launched earlier this year as a part of the Province’s budget. It’s administered by the Ontario Trillium Foundation through two streams: Operating and Capital. This funding is from the operating stream. It provides funding support for essential expenditures, such as staff salaries and fixed operational costs, including utilities, rent, lease, telephone and communication lines.
It also provides for equipment costs, programs, services, and adapting to COVID-19 public health measures, including equipment for changing technology, health and safety, and personal protective equipment as well as innovation, digital, and mobile costs.
