Styrofoam Dropped From Recycle Stream

recycle bin270The Municipality of Meaford has announced that effective April 1, Miller Waste will no longer accept Styrofoam, including all #6 materials, as recycling and those items will now have to go into the garbage stream.

The reason for discontinuing this program is due to the lack of any market accepting this material for reuse. The company that had been taking Styrofoam for recycling recently closed down, and Miller Waste has not found an alternate market for the items.

GBHS CEO Makes Case For Consolidation of Surgical Services, Council Says Not So Fast

Roughly 200 residents filled the pews at the Meaford United Church on Monday, March 13, to hear Grey Bruce Health Services CEO Lance Thurston make the case for consolidation of surgical services as part of an effort to find significant cost savings aimed at mitigating budget shortfalls after changes to the provincial funding formula for hospitals negatively impacted the GBHS.
