Meaford Implements Accessibility Recognition Program

accessiblesign angle 270On July 10, Meaford council adopted the Accessibility Recognition Program recommended by the Accessibility Advisory Committee.

To promote greater accessibility and accessibility awareness, the program recognizes individuals, groups, and businesses in the Municipality of Meaford who have taken significant steps to create inclusive environments and to provide exceptional customer services. The seven recognition categories are: education, employment, recreation & culture, customer service, built environment, youth, and other.

Feast of Fields Returns for 4th Year

Feastoffields 270The SMILE Animal Society and the Meaford Farmers' Market have announced plans for the 4th annual Feast of Fields to be held at the Meaford Harbour Pavilion on Saturday, August 26 from 5:30 - 9:00 p.m.

The feast will include a multi-course vegetarian meal prepared by a renowned local chef, using the freshest locally-grown produce. In addition, a number of local musicians will provide entertainment during the family-oriented event.

A Safe Summer Is A Supervised Summer

basketball270The Ontario Provincial Police remind parents and caregivers to spend some time talking with their children about respectful and acceptable behaviour during summer holidays.

Common occurrences police attend throughout the summer time are: acts of vandalism, mischief, shoplifting, loitering, trespassing, under-age drinking, field parties, and general noise complaints. Police encourage parents/caregivers to take some time to not only teach young people about acceptable behaviour but also to supervise their activity.

West Nile Virus Confirmed in Area

mosquito270The Grey Bruce Health Unit is reminding residents and visitors to take precautions against mosquito bites. Earlier this week, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit identified mosquitos in Collingwood that tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV).

The finding in Collingwood indicates that West Nile Virus could also be present in Grey Bruce, as in other parts of Ontario,” said Christine Kennedy, Medical Officer of Health.
