Dear Mr. Vance,
First, congrats on your rant this week (The 3Rs…Rants, Raves & Rumours, April 16, 2026 print issue) about the rural/urban schism (urban is a bit of a stretch).
Living out near Bognor, we hear the moaning about how the library was a bad trade for the grocery store, and the ridicule about the proposed $2,000,000 toboggan hill, but your point has merit: plowing snow on these lonely roads, and tedious garbage pickup is expensive, and our taxes are cheap compared to the town residents.
Re: last week’s letter about TDS, I wonder if that referred to an old term, DT’S for delirium tremens, a severe stage of chronic alcoholism, that included violent hallucinations. By the way, this Iran war was sparked by Israel, who had a fix on the ayatollah, and told Trump they were going to attack the next morning, and he just followed suit, without thinking. As usual.
Nick Furgiuele, Bognor
