Reader Has Many Questions Regarding Pumped Storage Proposal

Editor,

Could you please pass along something to Mr. Everitt and council that came up at the latest PSAC.

Shawn Everitt is evidently taking a trip (with TCE?) to the Ludington Pumped Storage project:

Besides, is he an engineer? I am not aware that he posses (sic) any special knowledge with regards to energy storage. I have outlined for 4 years the advantages of other energy storage options. Using BESS or Quebec and/or Manitoba’s excess hydro rids ALL of the challenges that Meaford and all of the Georgian Bay areas face: no need for complex system construction, no opposition from Ontarians, no need to threaten your local constituents that reside in the area, no need for further assessments, no more waste of government funding now at $285 million and no need for PSAC!

That leaves a few unanswered questions:

There obviously must be a ton of dollars being offered in the upcoming CBA: what is the number you expect? (no worries as I will still oppose this boondoggle): just an estimate.

How could Ontario/Municipal building codes allow the construction of a massive reservoir above a populated residential or similarly designated area? I cannot see this happening so how is it possible?

With the water testing deposition given at our last PSAC and the immediate risks in the interest of all Georgian Bay area residents should not council put an immediate STOP to this project until water safety is ASSURED?

What is the problem with your contacting all parties involved and say: STOP?

Who is paying for the Luddington tour?

And finally:

Since a PSP tour is on the books, when do we expect a tour of a BESS project? just makes sense to me.

Pat Maloney, Meaford
