Public Health Confirms Two Grey-Bruce Residents Among Those Who Were on MV Hondius Cruise Ship

Grey Bruce Public Health has confirmed that two Canadians who disembarked the MV Hondius, the site of a hantavirus outbreak, in late April reside within Grey-Bruce.

The individuals are well and are not experiencing any symptoms of illness. They are isolating within the same household in Grey-Bruce and are being actively supported and monitored by Grey Bruce Public Health for the period of time required to ensure public safety.

Grey Bruce Public Health is checking in with the individuals on a daily basis to confirm their health status and ensuring their ability to maintain appropriate isolation.

Protocols are in place to connect the individuals with health care in the event that it is needed.

As always, further information will not be shared about the individuals to protect their privacy and confidentiality.

Because the individuals are asymptomatic, in isolation, and following all public health guidance and advice, the risk to the community remains extremely low.
