Norman Spears passed away at the Owen Sound Hospital on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the age of 92.
Born in Grey County on March 17, 1933, he was a son of the late Russell and Elsie (nee Farrow) Spears.
Norman was predeceased by his beloved wife Joan Spears (nee Cramp) in 2017.
He was the father of Thomas Spears (Deanna) and William ‘Bill’ Spears. Norman was the proud grandpa of Jessica (Eric) and Thomas Spears, and was the great-grandpa of Dezmond and Elsie.
He was the dear brother of Wallace, Alex, Bill and McClure, and sister Marylou Strong. He was predeceased by his brother Elgin Spears and his sister Marg Eden.
Norman worked at the Georgian Bay Foundry in Meaford for many years. He loved doing anything he could for his family. His church was very important to him and he liked to quietly do what he could to help out around the church. Norman enjoyed getting away to the cottage in Parry Sound; he took great pride in making improvements and kept himself busy tinkering and puttering around to keep everything nice at the cottage.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Olivet Baptist Church in Meaford on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 1 o’clock. Family will receive friends for visiting at the church prior to service, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford.
