Died peacefully following a sudden illness on Monday, December 30, 2024, at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Center, Barrie, at the age of 82. Janet of Barrie, formerly of Wasaga Beach, beloved wife of George for over 58 years. Loving mother of Stephan (Laura) and Laura (Kevin Cripps). Cherished grandmother of Logan and Shaelyn. Dear sister of Richard (Richard) Krulick, Joe (Mary) Krulick, the late Marion Leighton, and the late Alec Krulick. Janet will also be missed by her nieces and nephews and her many friends.
Janet was a kind woman of deep faith. She was committed to her church and to her community. She loved to sing with the church choir and as a member of the group Sound Investment. She was a fine artist and a longtime member of the Wasaga Beach Art Club. Janet and George were retailers for many years in Wasaga Beach and Meaford, owning the Stedman’s Stores as well as numerous seasonal businesses such as the Wasaga Summer Bazaar and they operated Wasaga Beach’s first dollar store. Their involvement in Meaford led to the creation of the ‘Scarecrow Invasion’ event which still runs every fall in Meaford. For a period of time, she raised monarch butterflies, helping over 100 butterflies reach maturity. She enjoyed collecting vintage postcards. She enjoyed quilting and was a member of a local quilting group. She loved to dance, from her teenage years right into her 80’s. She will be dearly missed.
Friends will be received by her family at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Beach Chapel, 509 River Road West, Wasaga Beach, on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 12 noon until 2 p.m. The Funeral Mass will follow at St. Noel Chabanel Catholic Church, 133 Dunkerron Avenue, Wasaga Beach, at 2:30 p.m. The ceremony will be available on the Carruthers & Davidson YouTube channel for live or delayed viewing. Spring interment Wasaga Beach Cemetery. If desired, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Patrick’s Parish would be appreciated by Janet’s family.
