Stanley Matthew Lawrence passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Grey Bruce Health Services in Meaford in his 89th Year.
Born in Clarksburg on January 21, 1935, a son of the late Stanley and Thelma (nee Dillon) Lawrence.
Stanley is now reunited with his cherished wife and best friend Janet (nee Shrimpton) Lawrence who predeceased him on June 13, 2022.
Stanley is survived by his son Scott Lawrence (Jennifer), his step-daughters Claire Draycott (Richard) and Eva Thompson (Pascal Lemieux), and his grandchildren Taylor, Peter, Emma, and Stephanie.
Stanley worked for TD Bank for 38 years, starting his career in the Thornbury branch in 1951. After retiring in 1989 and meeting Janet a few years later, they started their loving partnership on the “Meaford Mountain”. Stan and Janet soon found a mutual love for the game of golf and took many trips over to Scotland to hone their skill, while visiting Janet’s family. Stan attended two Ryder Cups and a Masters at Augusta. The traditional turkey dinners at Bora Bora North with his famous stuffing will never be forgotten and a beer after any job completed (big or small) was a must by his rules.
A memorial service celebrating Stan’s life will be conducted at Christ Church Anglican, Meaford, ON, on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 11 o’clock, with a reception to follow.
