Obituary: Griffin, Dove Violet

Dove Violet Griffin (née Lambe), October 5, 2023, at Alexander Place Waterdown, in her 91st year. Born in St. Vincent Township Meaford, daughter of the late Albert and Annie Lambe (née Clarke). Predeceased by husband Sgt. Grant Griffin (Royal Canadian Dragoons) of Bulwer, Quebec, sisters Islay Burke, Betty Sewell, and Effie Watterworth, and brothers Walter and Wymand Lambe. Survived by sister Della Ormsby, and sons Eric (Margaret) and Neil (Glory Dawn) Griffin. Grandmother to Monica (Mathew Fisher) and Richard Griffin, and to Cari (Troy Johnston) and Ashley (Lewis Isle). Great-Gran to Catherine, Bethany, Colin, and James Fisher, and to Caellum and Theron Johnston.

Many thanks to the staff and administration of Alexander Place Waterdown for their exceptional patience, care, affection, and kindnesses. Mention must be made of the extraordinary help and advocacy of Monica Fisher RN, and Theresa deSouza for her innumerable kindnesses.

Dove was a long-time member of the Elora Curling Club and the United Church of Canada.

Donations to the Breast Cancer Society, the Alzheimer Society of Hamilton, or the Highland Hills Faith Community Church in Dundas would be welcome. If one is so inclined, one might raise a glass of Valpolicella in her honour.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Dove’s life will be held at the Meaford Curling Club on November 14, 2023, at 12 p.m.
