Donald (Don) Raeburn Greenfield, age 80, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 19, 2024.
Don was born in St. Vincent Township, Ontario, on June 7, 1943, to the late Dorothy and
Russell Greenfield. Don is survived by his brother Harley Greenfield (Doris), sister Ruth Garrett, son Erin Greenfield (Tracy), and daughter Stephanie Greenfield (Paul McInnis). Don will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Nyden, Nicholas, Nadalin, and Will.
Don grew up on a farm near Meaford, Ontario. After graduating from University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall, Don opened a general law practice in 1971 in Owen Sound.
In 1979, he partnered with Brian Barrie to form Greenfield and Barrie, where he worked until he retired in 2011.
During his career, Don enjoyed many areas of law. He developed a specialty in municipal law and provided advice to many municipalities over the years.
Don loved the law – learning about it, discussing it, and debating it. He also enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, music, wine, restaurants, a catchy tune, and conversing about politics, current events, and religion. In the end, life was all about his love of family.
Don’s family would like to thank all the staff at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich and Huronview Home for the Aged in Clinton for their exemplary care and kindness.
