Obituary: Calvert, Albert John “Jack”

Jack was born January 3, 1939, at the Kitchener Waterloo Hospital, ON, and died peacefully on June 29, 2023, at Hospice Georgian Triangle, Campbell House, Collingwood, ON, in his 85th year. Jack resided in Meaford, formerly Thornbury, and was a very social and active member in the communities of Clarksburg and Thornbury. Loving father of Larry, Leslie Chislett (Bill), and Leanne (Philip Tarlo). Dear grandfather of Maddison (Alex Lee), Kimberley (Adam McIsaac), and Joshua (Ruby Fussell). Great-grandfather of Malakai.

Jack is survived by his former wife Ida (Beith), brother Jim (Rose), his sister Marylin Wilkenson, and brother-in-law Allan Mackinnon. Pre-deceased by his parents Ed and Eileen (Kennel), sisters Alice Mackinnon, Barbie Wenckstern, brother Bill, and brother-in-law Gary Wenckstern. Jack worked for Teledyne, Collingwood Shipyards, and Teledyne/BTI.

Jack had a lifelong love for the guitar. He played with Georgian Sound and enjoyed art classes at the Marsh Street Centre where he continued to paint. His greatest love was a round at Tomahawk Golf course. A special thank you to all the wonderful staff at Campbell House, the Meaford Hospital, and Dr. Enright. A drop in celebration of Jack’s life will be held Sunday, August 27, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m., at 48 Hickory Street, Collingwood, ON.
