It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a loving Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma. Ida passed away at home with her family by her side on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the age of 84.
Born in Euphrasia Township on February 26, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Oliver and Hannah (nee Pooley) Fitzsimmons. Ida was predeceased by her beloved husband Maurice Almond in 2008.
She will be missed by her three sons: Paul (Cheryl), Mark (Joanne), and Scott (Linda). Ida was the proud and much loved Grandma of Brittney (Matt Allan), Brandon (Lisa Almond), and Courtney. She was the wonderful Great-Grandma of Peyton and Brooklyn Allan, Sierra, Brie, Charles, and on September 22, 2021, Oliver Almond was born.
She will be remembered fondly by her siblings Bill Fitzsimmons, John Fitzsimmons (Donna), Gerald Fitzsimmons, and Dorothy Stewart. She was predeceased by her sisters Isabel Jamison, Alberta (late Glen) Freeborn, her brother Bert Fitzsimmons, sisters-in-law Shirley Fitzsimmons, Grace Lambe (late Gordon), and brother-in-law Anthony Stewart. Ida will be remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, and their families.
A private service will be conducted at Christ Church Anglican on Monday, September 27, 2021, with interment following at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford.
