Municipality of Meaford Wants Your Input on Food Truck Licensing

The Municipality of Meaford is updating their Food Refreshment Vehicle Licensing Program and want to hear from you. Whether you’re a food truck operator, a local business, or a resident, the municipality says that your feedback will help shape a system that works better for everyone.

We’re looking to make the licensing process fairer, more efficient, and more supportive of both mobile food businesses and the community. If you’ve had experience with food trucks in Meaford—whether running one, hosting them at your business, or enjoying their food—this is your chance to share your thoughts,” said the municipality.

What’s Changing?

Based on past feedback, the municipality has already made some updates to make the program easier to navigate:

  • Simplified Food Truck Categories – Instead of multiple classifications, there are now just two:
    1. Motorized (traditional food trucks)
    2. Non-Motorized (food carts, trailers)
  • New Lottery System for Municipal Locations – If you want to set up at a municipal site, there will now be a fair lottery process to give all vendors an equal opportunity.

How to Get Involved

Tell the municipality what’s working, what’s not, and what could be improved. You can share your feedback by emailing ecdev@meaford.ca before April 17.
