The Municipality of Meaford has launched ‘She Moves Meaford’ in recognition of International Women’s Day, a community storytelling campaign celebrating the women whose leadership, creativity, and resilience help our municipality thrive. The campaign will highlight women-led and women-owned businesses, along with women serving in roles across the Municipality.
Until Friday, February 13, residents, customers, coworkers, and community partners are invited to nominate a woman who helps move Meaford forward. Women who wish to participate directly are also encouraged to submit their information.
“She Moves Meaford will shine a light on the many women who strengthen our community, support our economy, and contribute to Meaford’s identity in meaningful ways,” said Jessica Kenyon, Small & Medium Business Liaison. “We want to tell the stories behind the businesses, services, and workplaces that make the Municipality such a vibrant community.”
The campaign welcomes nominations for:
- Women-led or women-owned businesses in Meaford
- Women who contribute to community life through leadership, service, or innovation
- Women working within the Municipality who wish to be featured
Participation is voluntary and open to individuals who live, work, or operate a business in the Municipality.
Individuals can submit themselves or nominate someone else through the online intake form at: meaford.ca/shemovesmeaford.
Selected stories will be featured on municipal channels throughout the week of International Women’s Day, with additional features appearing on the municipality’s website and social media platforms.
Women-led businesses and workplaces play a vital role in Meaford’s economic growth and community identity. The campaign supports Council’s priorities of strengthening the community, supporting local economic development, and advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion.
“The Municipality looks forward to celebrating the women who lead, inspire, and make a difference every day,” said the municipality.
