Meaford Residents to Join Province-Wide Day of Action

On Saturday, March 28, concerned Ontarians will participate in a coordinated, province-wide, peaceful day of action, #OntarioMarch28, demanding provincial government accountability.

In Meaford, participants will gather at the Sykes Street side of Meaford Hall with signs sending their message of required actions to improve communication, decision-making, and the lives of citizens, especially in small and rural communities.

We do not want billion-dollar vanity projects like a luxury spa, new Science Centre, 401 tunnel, Convention Centre at Exhibition Place, or on an island in Lake Ontario, or Niagara Las Vegas North, adding to our $13.4 billion unprecedented provincial deficit,” said Meaford organizer Norah Beatty. Our money should be going to address food insecurity, housing, health, education, justice, the environment, child welfare, ODSP, OSAP, and other public services to benefit all the people. We can’t wait four more years to change direction. The growing deficit burden will be paid by many future generations who also have to do without the public services our government should be financing now. Instead they are quickly privatizing and/or amalgamating services without appropriate consultation, funding, and input into decision making.”
