The Meaford Public Library will host award-winning agricultural journalist Rosalie Tennison on Wednesday, May 7 at 1 p.m.
Tennison will give a presentation on her debut book Naomi’s Houses. The book is her own account of her impoverished upbringing in isolated rural communities and her mother Naomi’s struggle to give her children more than she had.
Named in honour of the homes her mother provided for her family in those difficult years, author Rosalie Tennison’s powerful memoir exposes the beauty and resilience in her humble upbringing.
Tennison has never forgotten her rural roots and even has a local connection to Meaford. Her long career has taken her from rural weekly newspapers to a small-town radio station, agricultural trade magazines, and communications department of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences at the University of Manitoba.
Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased in advance at the Meaford Public Library. The ticket includes a hot beverage and sweet provided by McGinty’s Café.
Signed copies of Naomi’s Houses will be available for purchase at the event, courtesy of Jessica’s Book Nook of Thornbury.
