Editor,
Today we wake up with all counting and recounting done, to a Canada being governed by a strong minority government. A bit more right of center than Trudeau’s government. I am happy with a minority government that has to listen to, but not beg, for other party ideas and cooperation. A majority win would have allowed the government to ignore other parties’ ideas and input.
What we have now is called governing not dictating. All parties and premiers working together to make the best way forward.
I am also happy that PM Carney will take some time, before meeting Trump, to come up with a good plan on future trade relations, tariffs and borders. Hopefully he will also make demands of Trump to shut down illegal gun trafficking as Trump did with Canada and Mexico about immigrants and fentanyl.
I am also happy that PMs don’t write executive orders in lieu of passing legislation.
That is the path to tyranny.
Good luck to PM Carney and us all.
