The Georgian Shore U9 rep hockey team went undefeated in three games to win the ‘A’ Division of the Georgian Bay Minor Hockey tournament in Owen Sound at the Bayshore Community Centre on March 25-27.
The tournament win wrapped up a strong season for the small group of hardworking hockey players from Meaford and Thornbury, ages eight and nine years, according to team spokesperson Meg Boyd.
“We had a really good season leading up to the tournament,” she said. “We competed against Collingwood, Penetang, Oro, and Elmvale, and we went into the tournament with only one loss and one tie. This is a hard working team of young players.”
Georgian Shores defeated the Collingwood Rep team 6-3 on Friday, March 25. The team won its game 10-1 against Elmvale Rep on Saturday and faced off against Oro Rep on Sunday and were victorious with a 11-4 win to become “A” division champions.
