Charges Laid Following Three Separate Intimate Partner Violence Investigations

On January 22, Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to three separate intimate partner violence investigations.

Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a walk-in at the Meaford Detachment and initiated an intimate partner violence investigation. As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that one individual had allegedly committed a criminal act against their partner. A 54-year-old of Meaford was charged with assault with a weapon-spousal, and two counts of mischief.

Grey Bruce OPP responded to an address in Southgate and initiated an intimate partner violence investigation. As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that one individual had allegedly committed a criminal act against their partner. A 36-year-old of no fixed address was charged with assault-spousal and mischief. The accused parties will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

As well on January 22, Grey Bruce OPP responded to an address in Southgate and initiated an intimate partner violence investigation. As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that one individual had allegedly committed a criminal act against their partner. A 27-year-old of Orangeville was charged with the following:

· Assault – spousal (four counts)

· Assault cause bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle (two counts)

· Failure to comply with undertaking (two counts)

The accused was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.

The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victims.
