Call for Volunteers for Boards and Committees

Do you have expertise, experience or energy to share? Are you looking for a way to give back to your community? The Municipality of Meaford is seeking volunteers to participate on the Committee of Adjustment and Meaford Public Library Board.

Applications and full position descriptions are available online at www.meaford.ca/appointments or can be picked up at the Municipal office at 21 Trowbridge Street West. The deadline for applications is Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at 4:00 p.m.

Applicants for Committee of Adjustment must live, work or own property or business in the Municipality of Meaford. Applicants for the Meaford Public Library Board must be at least 18 years old, resident in the Municipality, and be a Canadian citizen, as required by the Public Libraries Act.

Below is the current list of available positions. The Municipality will be looking for volunteers for other Boards and Committees early in the New Year. If you would like to be notified when recruitment begins, please contact Allison Penner at apenner@meaford.ca.

Committee of Adjustment

The Committee of Adjustment reviews applications for consents and zoning minor variances.

Experience and knowledge in one or more of law, land use planning, government, and community development are considered an asset.

The committee also acts as the Municipality’s Property Standards Committee.

Required: 5 members

Meetings: 8 times a year, 4th Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.

Meaford Public Library Board

The Meaford Public Library Board sets policies that guide the administration of the library and ensure that library service reflect the community’s needs and builds community capacity. Library Board Trustees align themselves with the vision and mission of the Meaford Public Library.

Experience and knowledge in the fields of finance, law and fundraising are considered an asset.

Required: 5 members

Meetings: 10 times per year, 3rd Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.
