The Bruce County Beef Farmers and the Grey County Beef Farmers Association have announced a joint donation of almost $4,000 to Grey Bruce Food Share this holiday season, supporting ongoing efforts to address food insecurity across the region.
Grey Bruce Food Share, located in Owen Sound, is a collaborative food distribution hub that rescues and redistributes surplus food to more than 25 local food banks and community charities throughout Grey and Bruce counties, and a program of OSHaRE. This donation will help ensure that high-quality, nutritious beef is available to food banks and community meal programs at a time of year when the need is especially high.
“As beef farmers, it’s our mission to help feed our community with good, nutritious food,” said Calvin Anstett, president of the Bruce County Beef Farmers. “And at Christmas—when so many families are feeling the strain—that mission feels even more important. We’re grateful to be able to support our neighbours in a meaningful way.”
“Giving back to our community is at the heart of what we do,” said Matt McKinnon of the Grey County Beef Farmers Association. “The Beef Farmers of Ontario has long been a strong advocate for grassroots donations to local food banks, and we’re proud to continue that tradition here in Grey and Bruce.”
The Bruce County Beef Farmers and Grey County Beef Farmers Association extend their gratitude to Grey Bruce Food Share for the vital work they do year-round and encourage others to support local food programs this holiday season.
