Anne Marie Watson, a rural healthcare advocate and family farmer from Durham, is running as the Liberal candidate for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound in the upcoming federal election on April 28. With almost 30 years of experience living and working on her family farm in West Grey, Watson understands the challenges faced by rural communities, particularly farmers.
Watson says that she is committed to supporting families by ensuring continued access to vital programs like the child tax credit, dental care, and pharmacare.
“Over 60% of Bruce Grey families bring home less than $90,000/yr, making them eligible for all the health-related benefits. Without these benefits, they will be forced to go without and have to visit hospitals for emergency care. These initiatives aim to provide practical benefits for rural families, including affordable healthcare and financial relief,” said Watson.
Watson emphasizes the importance of protecting these programs to strengthen the social safety net for hardworking Canadians.
Watson’s campaign also focuses on uniting communities and addressing local concerns such as agriculture and rural development. She plans to work closely with federal leaders to ensure Grey-Bruce receives the support it needs for farming and rural industries. As a retired healthcare professional, Watson brings a unique perspective on improving healthcare access for rural residents.
“With her strong ties to the community, Watson is ready to meet voters face-to-face by knocking on doors and listening to their concerns. She believes in building a future where rural voices are heard and respected in Ottawa,” said her campaign.
The Liberal candidate’s office is located at 163 8th St. East in Owen Sound.
