Albert Chiarandini’s ‘8th Member of the Group of Seven’ Exhibit Now Open at The Gallery at L.E. Shore

The Blue Mountains Public Library’s Arts and Culture Council (ACC) is pleased to announce the launch of Memory of Albert Chiarandini: 8th Member of the Group of Seven, an exhibit celebrating the late Italian-Canadian artist, Albert Chiarandini – a painter often referred to as ‘The Unknown Group of Seven Member’.

Born in Udine, Italy, in 1915, Chiarandini immigrated to Toronto at the age of 17, where he studied at the Ontario College of Art under some of Canada’s most renowned artists, including Franklin Carmichael of the original Group of Seven.

Over his prolific career, Chiarandini produced more than 3,000 works, ranging from vivid, emotional portraits of Toronto’s homeless and 1960’s Yorkville counterculture, to luminous landscapes capturing the early rural beauty of communities like Richmond Hill, Aurora, and Newmarket. His work has earned enduring recognition—most notably through its inclusion in The Group of Seven Project, a publication that affirms his place in Canada’s artistic legacy as ‘The Eighth Member of the Group of Seven‘.

In 2024, TLN Originals released a feature-length documentary on his life, Albert Chiarandini: The Eighth Member of the Group of Seven, further cementing his impact on Canadian art history.

No registration is required, just come, explore, and be inspired.
