The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid additional charges in connection with the disappearance and death of a 25 year old male in early 2020.
On May 3, 2020, Grey Bruce OPP received a report of a missing person. The body of Emerson Sprung of Meaford was then located on May 6, 2020. Soon afterward, the OPP arrested and charged a 34 year old Meaford resident with First Degree Murder, under section 235(1) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC).
On July 22, 2020 as a result of the ongoing investigation, two additional people were arrested and charged:
- Laurel Campbell, 28 years old from Municipality of Meaford, was charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder, Section 240 CCC.
- Bridget Taylor Smith, 25 years old from Municipality of Meaford, was charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder, Section 240 CCC.
On March 23, 2021, Grey Bruce OPP, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, have now additionally charged these two individuals with two counts each of Failing to Comply With Release Order, Section 145(5)(a) CCC.
Both these accused were held for bail hearings in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 24, 2021.
