The Meaford Public Library and Doubleday Canada present beloved Canadian singer/songwriter/bestselling author Alan Doyle on Wednesday, November 5, at 7 p.m. at the Meaford Hall Arts and Cultural Centre, as he shares his latest book The Smiling Land: All Around the Circle in My Newfoundland and Labrador.
Doyle, well-known as the lead singer in the band Great Big Sea, will be just coming off his performance in the musical Tell Tale Harbour at Mirvish Theatre in Toronto. He will be joined in conversation with Christopher Thomas to discuss his book. As one of Canada’s most celebrated Newfoundlanders, this will be a tour of the province as only Alan Doyle can tell it. The audience will visit windswept coastlines and towering crags, ancient Viking and Basque fishing settlements, and “more lighthouses you can shake a foghorn at”.
This will be an evening of wildly good fun with Doyle’s signature brand of humour.
Tickets are $40 per person, which includes a signed copy of The Smiling Land and Doyle will be available after the event to personalize them. Tickets are selling fast. Get yours today by visiting the Meaford Hall Arts and Cultural Centre, calling the Meaford Hall box office at 877-538-0463, or online at www.meaford.ca/MeafordHall.
