What would nineteen senior adults be doing sitting around a garage on a Wednesday night? Actually, that is exactly where the final gathering of the 4-3-2-1 lawn bowling season happened.
They gathered, of course, for the fellowship, and the prize-giving, but they also gathered to express their heartfelt thanks to Shirley Keaveney, owner of the Meaford Dairy Queen franchise.
“4-3-2-1 is lawn bowling with a fun twist to the way the game is played. Dairy Queen has been the sponsor of this segment of the Meaford Lawn Bowling Club for the three years we have offered 4-3-2-1 to our membership,” said the Meaford Lawn Bowling Club. “Shirley Keaveney opened the Meaford Dairy Queen 39 years ago and has been a strong, civic-minded employer in this town long before she successfully ran for office as a town councillor.”
Dan Dekking was presented with a cheque for being the 2016 Meaford 4-3-2-1 League winner. The 4-3-2-1 lawn bowlers were divided into three different groups. The winner from Group A with 101 points is Donna Eagles. The Group A second runner up with a total of 81 points is Joan Grierson.
Group B winner with 89 points is David Hobson. Group B second runner up is Doug Reid having attained a close 86 points.
In Group C, the winner with 107 points is Audrey Dobie. The second runner up in Group C with a total of 90 points is Carol Carlson.
