The residents of Annan have a new ‘Wee Library’, a free community book exchange.
“Little neighbourhood libraries are popping up all over North America. I purchased ours from the Owen Sound Public Library, which is selling them for a community organization that built them. The B.J. Peat Roofing Company of Annan provided the roofing shingles,” Annan resident Lynne Marie Sullivan told The Independent. “The initial stock of books are from my own collection as well as some which I purchased at a thrift store. They include titles for all ages.”
The Annan Wee Library is located near the community mailboxes at the Annan ball-field.
“Meaford Councillor Shirley Keaveney supported us in locating the site for the wee-library,” noted Sullivan. “Reportedly, there are a couple of other wee libraries in Meaford, and we would like to see each neighbourhood have one of their own to promote reading and community sharing.”
