The Leith Summer Festival has announced a decorated headliner for their August 9 afternoon concert: clarinetist James Campbell.
Campbell’s honours include a Juno Award, the Roy Thomson Hall Award, Canada’s Artist of the Year, the Order of Canada, and the Queen’s Jubilee Medal.
“Local audiences may be interested to know that our own artistic director, Jeremy Bell, delivered the citation when Campbell received his honorary doctorate from Laurier University,” said organizers.
Campbell will be joined by Vancouver musicians pianist Amanda Chan and cellist Adrian Fung, along with the charismatic and eloquent Christopher Gaze, who will narrate the poems of Lord Byron throughout the program, titled The Unbearable Lightness of Love.
