The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library has announcde that their new self-checkout service is up and running, with two checkout stations available for public use.
One station is in Youth Services and the other is on the Main Level across from the Public Services Desk. Using the touchscreen stations patrons can check out their own books, DVDs and other materials, renew their current checkouts and review their account. Library staff are can show library patrons how to use these stations.
The library says that there are benefits of self-checkout including:
· Patrons can choose when to checkout their materials during a library visit, for instance while the kids are still playing in the Toy Yard
· Self-checkout means increased independence, faster service and more privacy
· Patrons can have their receipts emailed instead of printing a slip
· Patrons can more closely manage their account
