Under a perfect summer sky on Saturday, July 11, the Meaford waterfront filled with close to 700 runners and walkers – plus hundreds of supporters and volunteers – as the Meaford Harbour 5K Run/Walk celebrated its 30th anniversary and delivered its biggest fundraising result in the event’s history, raising $125,000 for the Emergency Department revitalization campaign at Brightshores Meaford Hospital.
The total shattered the event’s $100,000 goal for 2026 and pushed the Run/Walk’s three-decade total raised for hospital priorities past $1.27 million — funds that have supported everything from diagnostic imaging, cancer and cardiac care facilities, to mental health initiatives, and emergency department equipment over the years.
“This event has always been about neighbours helping neighbours,” said Vince Rogers, Executive Director, Brightshores Meaford Hospital Foundation. “To see almost 700 participants show up on our 30th anniversary, on a beautiful sunny morning, and to raise more than we ever have before — it’s a powerful reminder of what this community will do for its hospital.”
Organizers credited the record turnout and fundraising total to an all-hands community effort.
“It was a perfect day, and it took an amazing organizing committee and countless volunteers to make it fun and safe for everyone who came out,” Rogers said. “We couldn’t be prouder of what this community accomplished together.”

The 30th anniversary Run/Walk would not have been possible without the generous support of this year’s sponsors. The Foundation extends special thanks to Sauriol Professional Medicine Corporation, who came on board early as Title Sponsor, and to this year’s Platinum Sponsors: Sinclair Homes, Meaford Dental Clinic, Brenda Calvert, Realtor – Royal LePage Locations North, and Dr. Stefan Murgelas Family Dentistry.
With 30 years now behind it, the Meaford Harbour 5K Run/Walk Committee is already looking forward to building on this year’s success. Organizers hope to see participants, volunteers, and supporters back on the waterfront next year as the tradition continues.
Save the date: Saturday, July 10, 2027, for the 31st Meaford Harbour 5K Run/Walk.
