The family of Carol Ann Gouett (nee Hennin) is grieved to announce that she passed away on June 19, 2026, at 79 years of age following a battle with cancer in Mount Sinai Hospital.
Carol was born in Windsor, Ontario, on September 5, 1946, and was raised in Midland. After graduating from Midland Secondary School, Carol made her own way through nursing school at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie. After graduation she married Dalfred Gouett. The two celebrated and shared many memories of family, friends, and travel throughout 58 years of marriage.
Carol made many lifelong friendships during nursing school. Nursing was her calling. Over her career, Carol nursed in many different wards in various locations including Thunder Bay, Midland, Owen Sound, Wiarton, Barrie, and Meaford. She worked in management at Barrie and Wiarton before moving to Meaford where she became the site director of patient care. These promotions were aided by her continued education she achieved while maintaining her career. Carol earned a degree from the University of Western Ontario and a Master’s certificate from the Canadian School of Management. She was a strong and dedicated advocate for patient care, supporting her staff, and helping others.
Carol retired in 2003 to enjoy more time with family, friends, and her many hobbies. She loved to travel and fell in love with various locations across Canada and the United States, and Europe. After her retirement, both Carol and Dalfred were Floridian snowbirds for several years, enjoying an active social life.
Cultivating friendships maintained a priority in her life. She enjoyed meeting friends for meals, shows, and more. She was an active member in her community. She was involved with Girl Guides, various committees, the Optimist Club, Meaford’s 55 Plus club and knitting club. Carol was an avid reader who also enjoyed puzzles. She was passionate about knitting, sewing, quilting, cooking and baking. Her ‘Nana Socks’ became a treasured gift for her family members.
Carol was caring, compassionate, and genuinely interested in other people. She loved talking with her friends and family to hear and share news. She will be remembered as a devoted nurse, a loving wife, mother, Nana, and loyal friend who cared deeply about people.
Carol is survived by her husband Dalfred Gouett, their three children, Jennifer, Jocelyn (Jeff Lawrence), and Christopher. Carol’s life was blessed with the love she shared with her grandchildren: Nicholas Lawrence (Adelaide) and Emily Lawrence.
Carol would often remark that you make priorities for what is important in life and that the love for her family and friends would be at the top of that list.
A private Mass will be held at St. Noel Chabanel in Wasaga Beach. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
