Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in West Region’s 13 detachments have conducted more Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot checks and charged more impaired drivers to date than the duration of the entire 2024 Festive RIDE campaign.
With just over one week remaining in this year’s campaign, West Region OPP officers have conducted 2,534 RIDE check events with the following results:
- 210 impaired driving charges.
- 29 warn-range suspensions.
Provincially, OPP officers have laid 1,007 impaired driving charges and 109 warn-range suspensions in 7,298 RIDE check events in OPP-patrolled areas across Ontario.
Last year’s West Region Festive RIDE campaign resulted in 187 impaired driving charges and 19 warn-range suspensions following 1,938 RIDE check events.
An addendum with West Region detachment-specific Festive RIDE figures is attached to this media release.
This year’s OPP Festive RIDE Campaign runs from November 20, 2025, to January 1, 2026. During the campaign, the public can expect an increased OPP presence on West Region roads and highways as officers conduct RIDE initiatives 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the province.
The OPP remains committed to taking alcohol/drug-impaired drivers off our roads through enforcement and public education. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it.
