Editor,
With all the talk about future energy shortages in Canada I find it interesting that TC Energy has applied to export electricity to the United States.
In their application dated 8 August 2025 and revised 4 November 2025 to the Canada Energy Regulator that TC Energy wants to get authorization to export up to 5,000,000 MWh of firm energy annually and up to 5,000,000 MWh of interruptible energy annually for a period of 10 years to the United States.
If the average U.S. home uses 0.855 MWh of electricity per month this means this could power 926,000 American homes for an entire year.
