Grey Paramedic Chief Receives Leadership Award From Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs

Grey County has announced that Paramedic Chief Kevin McNab has received the 2026 Richard Armstrong Leadership Award from the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs (OAPC). The award was presented at the association’s annual conference in Niagara Falls earlier this month. Chief McNab’s achievement was recognized by Grey County Council at its meeting on October 22.

The Richard Armstrong Leadership Award recognizes outstanding leadership, innovation, and contributions to the advancement of paramedicine in Ontario. Chief McNab was this year’s only recipient.

Chief McNab has served Grey County for more than 30 years, including nine years as Paramedic Chief. Under his leadership, Grey County Paramedic Services has become a recognized leader in community paramedicine, healthcare innovation, and integrated service delivery.

Among his many accomplishments, Chief McNab helped expand Grey County’s Community Paramedicine Program from a small pilot project into a vital healthcare service supporting hundreds of residents living with chronic illnesses. He also secured provincial funding to ensure the long-term sustainability of the program while reducing costs to local taxpayers.

Throughout his career, Chief McNab has contributed to paramedic education, provincial clinical standards, and innovative healthcare initiatives that improve patient outcomes both locally and across Ontario. His leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic helped deliver in-home testing and vaccination programs, and supported vulnerable residents through unprecedented healthcare challenges.

“Kevin’s leadership has had a profound impact on healthcare in Grey County and beyond,” said Grey County Warden Andrea Matrosovs. “He is never satisfied with the status quo and is always looking for new ways to improve care, support paramedics, and strengthen our healthcare system. His willingness to innovate, collaborate, and advocate for better services has made Grey County a leader in community paramedicine. We are incredibly proud to see him recognized with this prestigious provincial award.”

“I’m honoured to receive this award and share this recognition with the entire Grey County Paramedic Services team, and to thank County Council for its support and leadership,” said Chief McNab. “The work we do is built on collaboration, dedication, and a shared commitment to providing the best possible care for our residents.”

Chief McNab’s recognition reflects the work of more than 160 paramedics/staff who serve Grey County residents every day. His contributions have helped shape the profession while improving the health and wellbeing of residents throughout Grey County and across the province.
