Batteries vs Pumped Storage

Dear Editor,

After reading last week’s paper I am really confused. Both letters to the editor espoused the value of batteries over pump storage, but they were incomplete:

If batteries in cars blow up, why would a bigger battery not do so?

Getting Lithium out of the ground is environmentally bad too. In fact I can think of every complaint used against pump storage within the Lithium mining, except unexploded ordinance, and that has been proven false.

Where is the power coming from?

Why can they transport the Lithium power with existing lines but not pump storage power?

How do you get 50 acres to use near Toronto without NIMBY kicking in?

I sit squarely on the fence but would really like facts that I can trust. So far neither camps have given me that.

Just thinking,
